ASYNUT TO BUILD A 150,000 USD LODGE IN NTOROKO

A new Shs300 million campsite will be built in Semliki before the end of this year, raising the profile of one of Uganda’s most sought after tourist areas.
This follows the signing of a concession agreement by Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) authorising Asyanut Safaris and Travels to construct a tented lodge at Ntoroko.

According to Barbara A. Vanhelleputte, Asyanut’s Managing Director, Shs300 million has been earmarked for the project. This will be invested in the construction of 16 tents.

“The lodge will be built according to the latest state of the art technology of the safari camp industry,” Vanhelleputte said.

The new campsite raises hope for one of Uganda newest national parks, which was struggling to attract tourists due to limited accommodation. Currently, the park has one campsite called Semliki Safari Lodge –with only ten tents.

“We are optimistic this lodge is going to create more accommodation to attract more tourists,” said Sam Mwandha, UWA’s Director, Conservation.

Established in 1928 for the King of Toro, Semliki National Park formerly known as Toro Game Reserve lies on the floor of the Albertine Rift Valley between the Rwenzori, the Kijura escarpment and Lake Albert, covering some 542 square kilometres.

It is a rich mosaic of grassland, savannah, forest and wetland habitats and is ranked the best birding area in Uganda with over 400 bird species.

It is also a home to mammals. Kobs are the commonest animal in the area, although there are also elephants, chimpanzees, buffalo, leopard and various monkeys and antelopes.

Under the 15- year agreement, Asyanut is obliged to make annual remittances of $5,000 to UWA. However, the company has received a break this year as it constructs the lodge.

Asyanut has been in the tour and travel business for the last five years. In July last year, the company opened its first safari lodge in Ruhija near Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.  The company also plans to construct another tented lodge in Purongo near Murchison Falls National Park.

ASYANUT GOES GREEN
By virtue of being a subscriber to the ipower and hosting our website with them, Asyanut Safaris's website is now considered to be green!

How did we become green?
Companies that are not able to generate wind power onsite can offset their energy use by purchasing renewable energy certificates

How does this work?
The energy grid must maintain a required energy power produced by fossils is reduced through recs when the grid gets wind power added to it without overflowing. The result is 100% energy efficient use by the ipower centers and this in effect makes our website completely green! This level of commitment prevents 2660metric tonnes of carbondioxide from being released into the atmosphere and this is equivalent to planting nearly 2,390 acres of trees or removing 510 carbon emitting vehicles from the road. We all know that as a tour operating company in Africa, our business relies heavily on ensuring that the environment is safe guarded and so we are proud to be associated with this noble cause. The new Ruhija gorilla lodge which is affiliated to Asyanut safaris is also eco-friendly already and thus we are continuing to spread this message to our clients too.

Regards
Asyanut safari
